Thread: Tagging boxed sets with 10 or more CDs

  1. Tagging boxed sets with 10 or more CDs

I've ripped a 10CD boxed set and I'd like to use the following naming scheme:

0000-artist-album-year-group.nfo (same for the collective m3u file and the .sfv)
    0100-artist-album-cd1-year-group.m3u (for the CD1 m3u)
    0101-artist-album-track-group.mp3 (track 1, CD1)

    0200-artist-album-cd2-year-group.m3u (for the CD2 m3u)
    0201-artist-album-track-group.mp3 (track 1, CD2)

    all the way to this:

    1000-artist-album-cd10-year-group.m3u (for the CD10 m3u)
    1001-artist-album-track-group.mp3 (for track 1, CD10)

CD-Tag seems OK up to a 9CD release, then when you throw in the 10th CD, all the numerals in the file names are 3 digits for discs 1 thru 9 and then 4 digits on the 10th disc. I'd rather see a 10CD release as 4 digits in all the file names as shown above. Is this possible?

  2. Also, why can't we enter more than 2 digits for track numbers in the tagging window? That might solve the naming above.

  3. ANYONE have any suggestions for my first issue? I'm using the following mp3 file name mask:

    <LC><Disc><Track>-<Artist>-<Song></LC>

This results in CD1, track 1 being named 101-artist-album.mp3 then CD10, track 1 is named 1001-artist-album.mp3.

I need CD1, track 1 to be named 0101-artist-album.mp3 and CD10, track 1 to stay as it is (1001-artist-album.mp3).

I need suggestions PLEASE. Already tried <LC>0<Disc><Track>-<Artist>-<Song></LC> and that results in CD1, track 1 being correct but CD10, track 1 is now 01001-artist-album.

  4. This is pretty much the same problem that I have. I modified my Morgoth to be able to tag the 19 CD Complete Miles Davis at Montreux. But Morgoth is really shitty compared to CD-Tag. Would love to see my favorite be able to do everything I want it to.

  5. There is a workaround that I have tested and it works fine.
    1. Set up your profile to name all files normally (CD1 being 101 & CD10 and higher being 1001, 1101, etc.).
    2. Tag & rename the release, like normal (let it screw up CDs 1 thru 9 - for example: 101-artist-song_title.mp3, 201-artist-song_title.mp3, 1001-artist-song_title.mp3, etc.).
    3. Once the program tags everything & makes the nfo, sfv, m3u & jpgs, pull all the 4 digit files out of the directory and move them somewhere safe for the time being. LEAVE THE 000 FILES (jpgs, m3u, nfo, sfv)!!!
    4. Edit your profile to name all files with an extra zero or two (whichever is necessary...some of the 000 files need an extra zero compared to the mp3s). Edit Profile -> File Naming -> Multi CD tab
    5. Go back and re-tag the release (let the sfv be incorrect, we'll fix it next).
    6. Now we need to fix the sfv file because it's only checking the first 9 CDs. Move all the 4 digit files back into the directory. Click the SFV/MD5 icon.
    7. If you don't see the sfv you're wanting to change, click the folder icon and browse to it then click Create.
    8. Another dialog will pop up. Select ALL mp3 files (or whatever is required - usually only mp3 files) using the mouse and Ctrl + Shift to select a group of mp3 then just Ctrl + mouse to skip any m3u.
    9. Once you have all the mp3 selected, click the OK button and the sfv will be overwritten so that it contains ALL mp3 (with the proper 4 digit numbering).
    10. Just to be safe, copy/paste the sfv into the same folder (don't overwrite the original one we just re-created) and double check the release to make sure it passes the sfv check. If it does, delete the copy.

Now you're done and have a 4 digit file naming scheme.
